Benjamin Franklin once opined:
War begets Poverty,
Poverty Peace;
Peace makes Riches flow,
(Fate ne’er doth cease.)
Riches produce Pride,
Pride is War’s Ground;
War begets Poverty, &c.
The World goes round.
Nothing, as Edwin Starr told us long ago:
Reblogged this on johncoyote and commented:
I’m tire of war. John Denver said it best. “War is man’s sin.”

Thanks for reblogging my post!
I’m nearly 60 years old and have had few moments when I could say my country was at peace with the world. Global peace ought to be the norm, not the exception.

I agree. I went to five war zones. Taught me no-one win in war. Only cause homeless and , desperate people when powerful countries destroy cities. Modern warfare got worst. Ancient cities are lost forever.

Truly evocative – both your words and the way you delivered it. So very true – war is big business and the man on the greoun, no matter the colour of hs skin or religion, he /she is the one who pays and pays all life long.
Many thanks for this piece. Now I’ll go cry for the uselessness of war.
